Colchester Community Choir

Join our friendly community choir at Colchester and sing your heart out. Join our mission to raise £1 million for charity while you sing your heart out. We have lots of unique events to raise money for charity where you can put a wig on, dress in costumes and have fun. No audition needed!

“Joined the Buskerteers Choir last April, it's been the best thing I've done... fun, laughter, one 'big family' of like-minded people that just want to sing for Charity! As the Buskerteers say, 'if you can talk you can sing' - I'm proof of that!”

First-timers welcome

If you’ve never sung before or played any instruments, don’t worry! We can teach you how to sing with our professional, trained musicians. We’ll make sure you improve your singing while enjoying yourself every week.

We know it can be scary to sing in front of people so that’s why we’ll never make you sing on your own. You’ll always sing in groups, with friendly people supporting you.

Escape your day-to-day

With increasing loneliness and anxiety, the pressures of life can be hard on you. Our members understand hardships very well and you can find genuine support in the choir group. Find yourself again with help from our choir.

“Excellent way to meet new people, from all walks of life with a common interest,  unfilled evening learning new/old songs in a new way.  Opportunities to go out and entertain others whilst raising funds for different local charities. Come along you might surprise yourself.”

About the Colchester Choir

Friendly and welcoming is how we’d describe our members at our Colchester choir! We’re a lovely group of singers with a great sense of humour. It's a busy rehearsal room with an exciting atmosphere so it's the perfect place to get into choir singing. You’ll be very well looked after, surrounded by kind people.

"I’d recommend everything... sharing our love of music with each other, making new friends and feeling part of something rather special. Raising money is always a great thing to do, too"

A message from your choir leader

My name is Chris Burgess and I am the Buskerteers Choir Leader for Thurrock, Southend, Maldon and Colchester.

I have been a professional musician for over 20 years. I work as a drummer, MD, composer/arranger and music producer and I am delighted to be joining the Buskerteers team.

I'm very excited to welcome you into our choir and to take you on an amazing musical journey. We'll be learning songs and performing on stage together, and trying to raise as much money for charity as we can with our busking and performing.

I can't wait to meet you! Have a listen to a performance of mine in the meantime.

“I love being part of The Buskerteers Choir family. I feel uplifted by the singing, the friendship and the laughter. There are opportunities throughout the year to perform but there is no pressure.  I would highly recommend coming to a free taster session. Be warned! You may get hooked!”
